After School Lead Teacher
Bright IDEAS is an extended-day after school program that provides the students at Isaac Dickson Elementary with a fun, safe, and educational after school environment. Our team is dedicated to creating a sense of community and belonging, to developing students' character and social skills, helping them become responsible citizens of the global community, and to instilling in our students a joy and passion for learning.
The After School Program Lead Teacher will work with the Bright IDEAS’ director, assistant director, and staff to provide a quality enrichment after school program for students. Qualified applicants will have a minimum of 1 year experience working with elementary school children, preferably in an educational or recreational setting.
Responsibilities:
Planning and instruction of weekly units through the use of arts and crafts, group activities, games, cultural studies, technology, etc.
Planning, implementing, and supervising recreational and enrichment activities
Supervision and safety of children in group setting
Supervision and direction of assistant
Communication with parents, students, teachers, and staff members
Assisting students with homework
Monitoring and managing student behavior following established behavior plan
Exemplifying and modeling quality character traits including integrity, respect, responsibility, respect, leadership, etc.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 21 years of age with high school education or equivalent
At least 1 year experience working with elementary school-aged children/Ability to effectively manage children in a group setting
Must pass background check through Asheville City Schools
Strong communication skills
Able to be actively and physically engaged for extended periods of time
Able to commit for the 2021-2022 school year.
CPR, first aid certification, and Covid-19 vaccine (preferred)

Must be available Monday-Friday between the hours of 2:00 pm and 6:00 pm, occasional extended hours on teacher work days, and monthly after-hours staff meetings.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.00 - $13.00 per hour depending on experience
