Southern Appalachian Repertory Theatre (SART) will host “Broadway and More,” a one-woman show by Soprano Mary Mikels, on Friday, April 26, at 7:30 pm in Owen Theatre on the Mars Hill University campus.
The one-hour+ concert will feature classic show tunes from “Les Misérables,” “Wicked,” “Phantom of the Opera,” “The Sound of Music,” “My Fair Lady,” and more —including “O Mio Babbino Caro,” the opera piece that landed Mary a spot in the first round of American Idol. She also sings beautiful well-known Christian pieces to conclude the concert.
Born totally blind and with a hearing loss in her left ear, Mary has been singing nearly her whole life. She is a native of Raleigh, N.C. She can be found on her website at www.blindnotesmusic.com and on social media under the name Blind Notes Music.
