Intern Position Description
Title: Madison County Democratic Party Intern
Location: Remote with some meetings within Madison and Buncombe Counties
Responsibilities: The MCDP Intern will develop leadership skills by participating in Democratic party organizing, database training and usage, voter registration, phone banking, canvassing, communications, staffing and supporting a headquarters, and public events.
Accountability: The MCDP Intern is accountable to the Madison County Democratic Party officers, and seeks to coordinate projects and volunteer opportunities with Young Democrats on the MHU campus .
Position Requirements: The Madison County Democratic Party Student Internship requires:
A student who is self-motivated and is good at time management, as they will need to coordinate their schedule with the Madison County Party as well as the campus community.
A student who is available to work predominantly online and in person at events in Madison County.
A mature student, perhaps in their second or third year as a Political Science major, familiar with Madison County/Western North Carolina regional politics.
A student with computer skills, writing, speaking and communication skills
Stipend: A $500 stipend is provided for the 13 weeks internship at 3-4 hours per week.. Half is paid mid-semester, and the remainder paid at the end of the semester.
Evaluation: An end of semester evaluation will be performed, with the possibility of renewing the internship for the summer and/or fall semester.
